This state-of-the-art equipment is capable of accurately weighing and measuring seafood in bulk quantities, significantly improving the efficiency, consistency and quality of Catalano’s production line.
Continuous Improvement the Key to Success
This recent equipment upgrade not only allows for significant increases in production, but will also promote further development and maintenance of excellent controls on hygiene procedures, reducing human handling and minimising product time out of refrigeration.
Catalano’s expansion into the Eastern States has brought with it an increased demand for a range products across the board. With this new addition, the company is well equipped to meet this increase, whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality control.
Nick Catalano, Catalano’s Seafood Managing Director, stated:
“The new batch seafood weighing equipment has had a tremendous impact on our production efficiency at Catalano’s.
With a 5-10% increase in yield and significant reduction in wastage, we’ve been able to streamline our operations and save on costs. Additionally, the machine’s 100% accuracy rate has eliminated the need for manual weighing across 80% of our products.
On that basis, we estimate this upgrade could save us over $150,000* per annum, which is an absolute game changer for our company.”
